You've Put Down a Deposit...What Happens Next?
Congratulations! You've decided to buy a motorhome. Let's talk about the process from now until delivery of your brand new baby.
Securing your place in the queue by putting down your deposit can be scary. It’s a lot of money and the end goal seems so far away, but locking in the price, for us, was one of the best things we did. The wait was the hardest part. Eighteen long months from when we put down our deposit, until we took delivery. Things may have changed by now, and we do believe the wait times are not so long.
Our first 15 months were spent visiting the display model, pretending it was ours, dreaming about life on the road and generally making a nuisance of ourselves to our very patient sales consultant (thanks, Shaun) at Brisbane Camperland.
Then, three months from delivery, we were called in to finalise our extras and select the colours of the interior. This is when you also sign the contract and it’s all locked in.

This is when things got real and we needed to move quickly to make sure we were prepared to take it home. We knew we had enough space in the front yard to park it, however, accessing it was going to take some work. Give some thought to how you are going to store your motorhome. You’ll more than likely need access to power and, if you have a slide out, it will need to be level. We needed to create access to our front yard by installing a new gate in the existing fence. We also were concerned about the kerb and the ground clearance.

Finally, we were notified that our motorhome had arrived from Victoria and it was in the pre-delivery stage. Jayco completed a pre-delivery check of all the appliances and cabinetry, etc. Then it’s off to the local Fiat dealership to complete a pre-delivery check of the mechanical side. Once that is done, we were given a date for handover. And then the fun begins!
