Exploring Blackbutt and Beyond
Our stay in Blackbutt, Queensland turned out to be one of those pleasant surprises where everything just works out. We based ourselves at the Blackbutt Showgrounds, which proved to be a perfect spot for motorhome travellers.
Staying at Blackbutt Showgrounds
We stayed five nights at $25 per night, and for that we had:
• Power and water at the site
• Clean toilets and hot showers
• A friendly caretaker who made us feel right at home
The showgrounds are within easy walking distance of the pubs, shops, town centre and an awesome bakery. It's an easy stumble home from the pub if you care to let your hair down. Levelling blocks were definitely needed, but once set up, it was a comfortable base.
Day Trips Around the Region
From Blackbutt, we explored a whole string of nearby towns and attractions:
• Linville – A charming spot on the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail, popular with cyclists and walkers.
• Moore – A small but welcoming village, perfect for a coffee stop.
• Kingaroy – Famous for its peanuts (yes, we stocked up!).
• Nanango – A larger town with everything you need, plus a dash of history.
• Yarraman – A lovely place to wander and enjoy a country bakery.
• Jesse’s Well – A unique historical landmark worth a look.
Why We Loved It
Blackbutt is a great central base for exploring the South Burnett region. The showgrounds offer everything you need for a comfortable stay, and the welcoming community makes it easy to settle in. Whether you’re visiting for a night or a week, it’s the kind of place that leaves you feeling rested and ready for the next adventure.
Ciao for now!
