Allora, Queensland

Dalrymple Creek Park – Where Optimum Prime Transforms Into Chill Mode

On the way out there, Suzee learned how to drive the motorhome — yep, all 4,495kg of our mighty beast, Optimum Prime! Nothing like breaking her in on the open road. I was in the passenger seat gripping the armrest, Tonka was in the back looking for the nearest emergency exit, and Suzee… well, she nailed it!

We rolled into Dalrymple Creek Park, a free off-grid 24 hour rest stop, where the grass is green, the birds – and bats - are chatty, and the toilets… well, let’s just say they do the job.

This little spot’s got rubbish bins, dog-friendly vibes, mobile phone reception, and plenty of space for Tonka to strut around like he owns the joint.

We wandered through the lovely town of Allora, home of the famous Mary Poppins House. Sadly, we didn’t get a free magic umbrella — probably for the best, because knowing us, we’d end up in New Zealand by accident.

Then we took a mini road trip to the towns of Nobby and Clifton. Yep, those are real names — and yes, we went there purely so we can now say, “We’ve been to Nobby!”

All in all, a top spot for kicking back, recharging (mentally, not electrically), and exploring some quirky little towns along the way.

Ciao for now!
